ANNUAL APPEAL 2012-1013
Dear Friends,
This has been a challenging year for the Islip Arts Council
but your support will ensure that the Council will continue to flourish.
We faced our challenges head-on. You helped us look at the many ways the arts council serves the community and you helped us through. Now, we face the New Year with no funds to administer the programs expected by our community.
With a modest staff and limited resources, we find it challenging to meet our goals in the current economic climate, putting additional strain on our ability to provide promised services and programs.
• We continue to serve the community by providing the highest quality performing arts programs, including 70 concerts, 99% of which are free to the public.
• We serve the visual arts community by managing the Islip Art Museum, referred to by the New York Times as "…the leading exhibition space for contemporary art on Long Island."
• Our School of Cultural Arts provides classes at low cost for children and adults that inspire and nurture their talents, often resulting in life-changing experiences.
• Our year-round "Teeny Awards" program... a career path to success… partners with 11 high schools, with over 2,000 students participating
• We serve our veterans and their families with our Salute to the Armed Forces Concert in the Park by partnering with other agencies that support our troops.
We are able to serve because of one reason: you and your continued generosity.
What springs from your heart transforms into beautiful music and art. "The great law of culture is: Let each become all that he was created capable of being." Thomas Carlyle
We ask you to think about the impact these services have on our community and give generously to our annual appeal.
I hope that you will favor the Islip Arts Council with critically needed support. We are facing 2013 with severely decreased funding from the Town, the County and the State.
We need your help.
Gratefully yours,
Lynda A. Moran
Executive Director
